Job details*PLEASE NOTE: We are NOT looking for articling students, NCA candidates, or lawyers. You MUST be an experienced litigation law clerk. Do NOT apply if you do not have a dedicated background in litigation.*The RoleWe are seeking a seasoned Civil Litigation Clerk (*must have experience supporting Superior Court of Justice litigation*) to support a high-volume litigation department. You will manage files from intake through to trial and enforcement, working directly with lawyers to keep matters moving, deadlines met, and court documents accurate. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes ownership of the details.*Key Responsibilities** Manage a busy litigation caseload across litigation matters in a proactive, disciplined manner.* Draft, prepare, and process pleadings, motion records, affidavits of documents, briefs, and other court materials.* Apply the Rules of Civil Procedure and applicable practice directions and local court rules to ensure documents and steps are procedurally correct.* Manage court filings (electronic and in-person) and coordinate service of documents.* Maintain rigorous deadline and limitation-period management, including diarizing and tracking key dates.* Coordinate court procedure: scheduling motions, examinations, mediations, pre-trials, and trials.* Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and process servers in a professional manner.* Provide exceptional practice and file management to keep matters organized and audit-ready.Requirements* Minimum 3 years' experience supporting a busy litigation department.* Experience in a general litigation practice (*real estate litigation, breach of contract/commercial, employment and estate litigation an asset*).* Thorough working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure.* Familiarity with practice directions and local court rules in the York, Toronto, Peel, and/or Halton regions.* Strong knowledge of court procedure, filing requirements, and document service.* Demonstrated deadline and limitation-period management skills.* Strong drafting skills across pleadings and court documents.* Exceptional practice management and organizational skills.* Must be based in or able to reliably commute to the York, Toronto, Peel, or Halton region.*Why Join Us*You will work on substantive, varied litigation files alongside lawyers who value an experienced clerk's judgment.
