Data Scientist - Fextralife

Location: Onsite - Montreal

Who we are

Valnet looking for a Data Scientist to join our Fextralife team. Fextralife is one of the world's largest gaming wikis and community hubs. We help millions of players every month find the information they need, from character builds to item databases to loot tables. Our editorial and discovery teams produce high-value content at scale, and we’re looking for a sharp Data Scientist to help us do it smarter.

This is an analytical and execution-focused role. You will work directly with the Brand Operator to identify where the biggest content opportunities lie, help manage and evaluate pitches from the discover-focused team, and build the data infrastructure that guides our strategic priorities.

Your insights will directly shape which wikis we build, how we grow our audience, and where we invest our team’s time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze traffic, search, and engagement data to identify high-opportunity areas for wiki creation and content prioritization.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and analytical reports that give the team clear visibility into performance and growth.
  • Develop new AI analytical tools and agents that improve decision-making speed and accuracy.
  • Use SEO and audience data (Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and similar tools) to guide content strategy.
  • Help steer the team’s direction by translating complex data into clear, actionable priorities.
  • Manage and evaluate incoming pitches from the Google Discover focused team, using data-driven frameworks to assess potential impact.
  • Continuously iterate on reporting and tooling based on feedback and evolving business needs.
What We’re Looking For
  • 3–5+ years of experience in a data science, business intelligence, or analytical role.
  • Motivated and experienced in using AI tools to accelerate and enhance analytical workflows.
  • Strong communication skills, able to write clearly and produce audience-facing newsletters and reports.
  • Ability to build and ship analytical agents and reports, not just produce one-off analyses.
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and shifting priorities in a fast-paced digital media environment.
  • Bias toward execution and measurable outcomes.
  • Experience in gaming, digital media, or performance-driven content environments is a strong plus, but not required.
  • Experience in digital media, growth, or performance-driven environments is a plus — but not required.

Full health insurance plan (including medical, dental, and vision).

Daily on-site lunches, snacks, and coffee provided.

Competitive compensation plan and bonus structure.
