Lafarge Canada provides construction services in the City of Prince George, BC and surrounding areas and is currently seeking seasonal, Asphalt Roller Operator, you'll play a crucial role in the final stages of road construction, ensuring smooth and durable surfaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate finish roller machinery to compact asphalt and create smooth road surfaces.

  • Collaborate with paving crews to ensure proper alignment and compaction of asphalt layers.

  • Conduct preoperational inspections on equipment to identify any maintenance or repair needs.

  • Adjust roller settings to achieve desired compaction levels and surface finishes.

  • Monitor asphalt temperature and moisture levels to optimize compaction efficiency.

  • Work in coordination with other equipment operators and laborers to complete paving projects on schedule.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including daily production logs and equipment maintenance reports.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and address any issues that arise.

  • Follow company policies and procedures to uphold quality standards and promote a positive work culture.

  • Qualifications

  • The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • Min 2 years of experience operating a Roller

  • Mechanically Inclined

  • Knowledge of the City of Prince George and surrounding area

  • Ability to read survey markings

  • Previous experience operating finish roller equipment or similar machinery in asphalt paving preferred.

  • Knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and industry best practices.

  • Ability to interpret paving plans and specifications.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required by project schedules.

  • Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks and work in outdoor environments.

  • Dedication to following company policies, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines at all times

  • In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be expected to exercise sound judgment, work safely and communicate effectively in a team. This position is physically demanding and requires crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling.
