Job order - J0325-0688 - Permanent Full Time Title Engineering Coordinator Category Engineering City Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada Job Description Engineering Coordinator Position Overview: The Engineering Coordinator, under the direction of the Capital Projects Manager, will be tasked with providing critical assistance to the Engineering Services group for the City. The Engineering Coordinator will assist with the design and review of critical surface and underground infrastructure as well as provide support in the review of development permit applications, shallow utility installations, crossing applications and utility cut requests. The Engineering Coordinator will also assist with City capital projects, developing City policies and procedures and updating relevant Public Works bylaws. This position will also be responsible for the oversight and direction of the City’s drafting group for design and as-built preparation. Principle Duties & Responsibilities: • Work with the Capital Projects Manager to complete the selection and design of surface and underground capital programs. • Staff scheduling and work assignment to ensure adequate coverage during peak season demands. • Review and update City bylaws and policies. • Coordinate and complete the review of development and building permits submitted to the City with Public Works as well as other City departments. • Liaise with government agencies, property owners, and other City departments regarding utility and surface works issues and inquiries. • Assist with quantity and cost estimates for Capital Budget Items. • Complete building permit, crossing permit and grade certificate reviews. • Complete traffic related permit reviews including Moving permits, Encroachment permits, Parade permits, Decorative Crosswalk permits, Oversize Load permits and Block Party permits. • Assist with engineering studies for City infrastructure. • Assist in the analysis of existing utility and surface infrastructure and providing recommendations for future system requirements. • Assist in the development of long-term engineering plans for the City. • Assist in updating City Master Plans and Neighbourhood Plans. • Assist in implementing design changes as required through the construction season in conjunction with the Field Operations Lead. • Supervise schedule and manage the performance of employees assigned to the Drafting work unit. • Provide technical support and expertise regarding utility and surface work design and analysis. • Assist in the design, approval of design, construction drawing creation and customization of contract specifications and contract preparation (asphalt, concrete, minor capital etc.). • Ensure Acts, Regulations, Bylaws, Agreements, policies and procedures are followed in the workplace. • Responsible for encouraging and maintaining high level of safety and communication with all staff working under their supervision. • Assist Capital Projects Manager in the creation and monitoring of capital and operating budgets. • Creation, implementation and training of Standard Operating and Safe Work Procedures. • Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering preferably Civil related. Eligibility for membership or certification with associated engineering classification.
