Automation Maintenance Manager
As Maintenance Manager, you will own the maintenance strategy, asset reliability, and technical capability for the site. Your focus will be on ensuring the long-term health, availability, and performance of automated material handling equipment, building systems, and infrastructure. You will set standards, lead technical strategy, and align maintenance execution with safety, uptime, cost, and throughput goals.
Key Responsibilities- Asset Reliability & Strategy
- Own site‑level reliability strategy, including preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, condition‑based monitoring, and lifecycle planning.
- Ensure automation uptime supports operational throughput, peak readiness, and service commitments.
- Lead root‑cause analysis and embed corrective actions to eliminate repeat failures.
- Partner with Engineering, Controls, and Operations on continuous improvement and system optimization initiatives.
- Maintenance Program Ownership
- Define and standardize preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance standards across all equipment.
- Own CMMS strategy (data integrity, work order quality, failure coding, backlog health).
- Drive spare parts strategy, critical spares identification, inventory optimization, and supplier performance.
- Establish maintenance KPIs such as MTTR, MTBF, PM compliance, downtime, and cost per unit.
- People & Capability Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop Maintenance Area Managers, Engineers, and technical specialists.
- Build bench strength and succession plans for key technical roles.
- Define training standards and certification paths for technicians.
- Own staffing models aligned to automation complexity and risk.
- Vendor & Financial Management
- Own maintenance budget, forecasting, and cost control.
- Manage OEMs, integrators, and service providers with clear SLAs and performance expectations.
- Evaluate make‑vs‑buy decisions and vendor dependency risk.
- Lead contract negotiations and service scope governance.
- Safety, Compliance & Risk
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards, LOTO, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead risk assessments related to equipment, aging assets, and single points of failure.
- Own site maintenance risk register and mitigation plans.
- 8+ years of maintenance leadership experience in highly automated environments (distribution centers, manufacturing, logistics).
- Strong working knowledge of automated MHE, conveyors, sortation, robotics, and controls systems.
- Proven experience building reliability programs and leading technical teams.
- CMMS expertise and data‑driven decision making.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field (preferred).
- Sustained automation uptime and throughput during peak and non‑peak periods.
- Reduction in unplanned downtime and repeat failures.
- Strong PM compliance and healthy maintenance backlog.
- Stable maintenance costs aligned to budget.
- High technician capability, engagement, and retention.
Hiring Range: $105,600.00 – $132,000.00 USD annually
Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential.
